Developed embedded C firmware to optimize Power Take-Off (PTO) clutch engagement and diagnostic reporting in tractor embedded systems and improved vehicle state machines to reduce the autonomy wait period by >5 seconds while complying with safety guidelines.

Automated software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop validation using ECU-TEST to validate control logic against software requirements and executed on-vehicle testing to verify PTO engagement improvements for more than 10,000 production tractors.

AUG 2025—PRESENT

Illini Electric Motorsports

VCU & Hardware R&D; Lead · Jul 2026—present

Oversee the design and implementation of the Vehicle Control Unit, including fault handling, motor control, and critical sensor interfaces.

Led a team of more than 10 junior engineers developing custom CAN interfaces and benchtop tooling. Researched how node location, capacitance, filtering, and bus topology affect CAN signal integrity to improve communication reliability on car.

Dash PCB Lead · Aug 2025—Jul 2026

Led design and bring-up of the Dash PCB, supplying the PLEX display with power and connecting its CAN 2.0 interface to the CAN FD telemetry network. Integrated auxiliary controls and later adapted the board for steering-angle sensor power and data. Re-routed the dashboard board to reduce its footprint by 23% while meeting packaging requirements.

Assembled and tested the four-layer steering wheel board’s power circuitry and quadrature encoder output. Validated analog filtering on an eight-layer data-acquisition board to meet ripple target <= 5 mV for strain-gauge and time-of-flight sensors.

Manufactured and validated critical harness sections for 600 V three-phase power, communications, and fault handling.

FRC Team 1515

President · Design Engineer · Drive Coach

Led > 40 team members and managed an annual budget > $16,000 to design and manufacture competition robots. Led mechanical design, oversaw logistics and teaching, and developed competiton strategy.

Developed Python scripts to analyze scouting data and quantitatively rank potential alliance partners and opponents. Developed and integrated Bézier curve path-following algorithms for swerve drive.

Established CAN harness standards to improve reliability, keeping maximum downtime < 10 minutes.
