Engineering

About Me.

I’m Daniel Salkin, a Computer Engineer at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I'm interested in electronic hardware, and how it interacts with both software and the mechanical systems around it. On the Illini Electric Motorsports team, I lead Vehicle Control Unit design, ensuring our hardware remains safety critical while supporting the software team's needs and mechanical integration concerns.

I like projects where I can get my hands dirty with actual engineering and see the impact I have on the world. This has taken me from racecar electronics to tractor autonomy and now to an upcoming hardware reliability role at SpaceX. No matter the challenge, I enjoy designing new projects, identifying and resolving their issues, and continuing to improve whatever I make.
